Director of Bands
Eric Wellman has been Director of Bands at Joliet West High School since the Fall of 2014. His curricular duties include directing the Symphonic Band, Percussion Classes, and Concert Band. Mr. Wellman also directs the Marching Tigers, Pep Band, and Jazz Ensemble.
He is a member of ILMEA, Phi Beta Mu, the Vic Firth Educational Team and the Percussive Arts Society. Before coming to Joliet West, Mr. Wellman spent 14 years as Director of Bands at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Illinois. He graduated with a music education degree from Illinois State University and received his Master’s degree from Vandercook College of Music.
He currently lives in Joliet with his wife Kathy, their beautiful daughters Elizabeth and Claire, and squirrel chasing dog Bianca.

Associate Director of Bands
Alyson Bauman began at Joliet West High School in the Fall of 2017. She teaches the Symphonic Winds, Concert Winds, and assists with the Marching Band. Along with teaching at Joliet West, Ms. Bauman teaches Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble at Hickory Creek Middle School in Frankfort, IL.
Originally from Tinley Park, Ms. Bauman is a graduate from Illinois State University where she received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, and is currently working on her Master's in Music Education at Vandercook College of Music. Additionally, she is a member of ILMEA, NAfME and NBA. She is an active performer in the Chicagoland area.
