Concert Ensembles
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is the flagship performance ensemble of the concert band program. This select group of students is chosen based on auditions in the early spring. Students in Symphonic Band have an extensive performance schedule that includes local concerts, a chamber concert, as well as other contests at the director's discretion. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in solo and ensemble contest, and although not mandatory, are highly encouraged to take private lessons and audition for ILMEA District 1 ensembles.
The Symphonic Band is an ensemble with a history of strong musical achievement. In 2018, the group performed at the Music For All National Concert Band Festival. In 2020 the French Horn Ensemble was selected to perform at the Music For All National Chamber Winds Festival, and the Symphonic Band has performed at the University of Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival on numerous occasions.
